Current Limit for +5V Output

Could you please specify the current limit for the +5V (pin 1) on both connectors? Is there an electronic short circuit protection?

If there is no short circuit protection and the +5V are from the mainboard, then there is no reason to limit it to 10mA. For our application, we need ca. 200mA. Do you see a problem with that?

Hello Chris - The +5V pins are not short circuit protected. The published spec is 10 mA total for all of the +5V pins, but that is very conservative, and very likely more current can be supplied. Please contact techsupport@mccdaq.com if you have specific current requirements.

Usage of -5V REF OUT

What is the relation between the -5V REF OUT voltage and the A/D converter reference voltage - is it the same voltage reference? I would like to use it to supply several potentiometers, by this having the A/D converted values independent from fluctuation of the supply voltage (since it should be also the reference voltage for the A/D converter). What is the max. current that can be drawn? Is this output short circuit protected? I assume the +5V is just the voltage from the mainboard.

The -5V REF OUT (pin 8) is not the reference for the A/D. 10 mA is its output spec. Yes that output is short circuit protected. Yes, the +5V (pin 1) is pretty much direct from the mainboard.

How can I test digital I/O ?

When I run Instacal with the board PCIe-DAS1602/16, I am able to do some analog test but I can't do it on digital I/O. How to test digital I/O on this board ?

Answers
InstaCal can test the 4 DO bits that are on the main connector, by using them in the analog loopback test. But InstaCal cannot test the 4 DI bits on the main connector, nor the 24 bits on the auxiliary connector. Hello xinjian8908 - This model hardware has 5 possible digital output ports: Auxport, FirstPortA, FirstPortB, FirstPortCL, and FirstPortCH. The pinout can be found at the end of the hardware manual PDF. Your question, on which ports are supported as output in MATLAB, and how to achieve that, would need to be directed towards the Mathworks.
