Regarding the OEM PCB, what is the purpose of the metallic ring around the mounting hole near the USB connector? It is connected to the shield pin of the USB. Do we need to connect this metallic ring to the shielding of the device, or it is OK to do it only by the USB connector?
Thanks

That mounting hole with the metallic ring, on the OEM model, is labeled TH1. TH1 has a direct connection to the chassis ground of the DAQ, and is also connected to the USB shell. Energy shunted to the DAQ’s chassis ground would normally go to earth ground via the USB shell/cable, but we highly recommend that you also connecting TH1 to your earth/chassis ground.
