The PCI-DAS6402/16 DAQ board is compatible with the 5 volt 32 bit PCI bus. However, if you only have a 5 volt 64 bit PCI slot available the PCI-DAS6402/16 will work in the 5 volt 64 bit slot as well.

We're measuring 5dc, but the voltage is suplied over an 10k resistor. The problem is, that the voltage is floating from 0 until 4 volts. What is the problem

Answers

10 K is still relatively low with respect to the high input impedance of this A/D model. Make sure your signal source is also referenced to earth/PC ground. Also the issue may be in the cable or wiring – verify that you are on the correct pins, and that your 100 pin cable is inserted correctly/fully into the back of the board. You could also try shorting the input and/or using a battery instead of your signal. If this advice does not solve it, the front-end circuit of the board may require repair.

My last post was this. Hello. I have a PCI-DAS6402/16 install in a windows 7 service pack 1, 32 bits. And my matlab is 2014a. My board is reconized by Instacal 6.35, but when want connection with matlab I can not ... %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% I've already changed my Matlab code: clear all; ai = analoginput('mcc',0); %(I recibe the error on this line AGAIN) Error using analoginput (line 142) Failure to find the requested data adquisition device: mcc. I wonder if it´s beacuse my O.S win 7, 32 bits. In Instacal this board appeares like: PCI Expansion (Bus 4) Board#0 - PCI-DAS6402/16 (dev#0). Also I probe with this codes: ai = analoginput('mcc',0); ai = analoginput('mcc',4); ai = analoginput('mcc','Dev0'); ai = analoginput('mcc','Dev4'); But it still doesn´t work . Please...

ai = analoginput('mcc',0); is correct in your case, since your logical Board# in InstaCal is 0. The O/S being Win7-32 is not a concern. If InstaCal’s analog test runs correctly, then the MCC-provided portion of the driver is operating correctly. When a application program does not find the DAQ device, when InstaCal does find it, the following 2 are the known causes: 1) Your hard drive may have multiple copies of the driver file named CBW32.DLL. Search the entire hard drive, including hidden folders, and delete all copies except the one in: C:\Program Files\Measurement Computing\DAQ 2) Your hard drive may have multiple copies of CB.CFG due to Win7 O/S’s Virtual Store. Search the entire hard drive, including hidden folders. The valid file should be located in: C:\ProgramData\Measurement Computing\DAQ Windows may be put backup of the file in: C:\Users\YourUserAccountName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Measurement Computing\DAQ Delete all copies, and then re-run InstaCal. InstaCal will make a new CB.CFG. Confirm it is in (or move it to) the location it should be in.

The most likely cause is that your DAQ device’s board number is 0 in InstaCal, but you are referencing 1 in MATLAB. Yes, this PCI model is still supported under WinXP in our latest InstaCal version (6.31). Once XP’s hardware wizard finds the board and adds it to the device manager, then launch InstaCal and run either or both of the analog tests. Instructions on how to loopback on-board signals will be displayed in InstaCal.

Answers

For Windows, InstaCal/UL supports multiple boards of the same model. Each has its own logical board # (0, 1, etc.) and you reference the board you wish to control via its board #. You mentioned Linux … for this PCI board there is a third party driver, though you would have to consult its source code or developer to see if provisions were made to handle multiple boards. No doubt it can be done, since each board is in a different number PCI slot, and the slot number is the way two identical boards are ultimately differentiated between.
