This is a reliable and easy to integrate device.

The USB-1608HS-2AO fits the ticket for so many of the Process Control and Test Measurement systems that we develop for internal use. The MCC Universal Libraries allow for quick and easy development in the Visual Studio .NET environment and the USB-1608HS-2AO always works flawlessly.

Good Performance/Price but Not 100% compatible

I am completely happy with the performance of this DAQ. I purchased 2 of them, and the simultaneous channel sampling with high resolution and fast data rates is excellent. The value of this product is quite good compared with competitors; priced less but equal or better specifications. If you do not plan to use MCC software to interface with this device, then I suggest you contact your DAQ software vendor to make sure they support all functionality of the device, including the counter/timer functionality.

Good Performance/Price but Not 100% compatible with Matlab DAQ

I am completely happy with the performance of this DAQ. I purchased 2 of them, and the simultaneous channel sampling with high resolution and fast data rates is excellent. The value of this product is quite good compared with competitors like NI. The only problem I had is Not Measurement Computing's fault. This equipment is listed by The Mathworks as supported by the Matlab Data Acquisition Toolbox . The Matlab DAQ toolbox (using the legacy interface required for use with MCC products as of 8/1/2013) allows me to access ALL features of this device EXCEPT the timer/counter functions. I am sure this is no issue if you plan to use MCC DAQ software. If you do not plan to use MCC software to interface with this device, I suggest you contact your DAQ software vendor to make sure they support all functionality of the device.

I'd like to start an analog ramp using external or internal trigger and run ADC at the same time. Is there a mode where ADC will acquire in sync with the DAC steps?

Answers

The A/Ds and D/As on our USB-1608HS-2AO will operate concurrently, however, because of the individual pacer clocks they cannot run synchronously. For simultaneous A/D DAQ devices that can run synchronously with their respected D/As I would recommend our USB-1604HS-2AO. The USB-1604HS-2AO allows you to slave the D/As off the A/Ds pacer clock allowing for synchronous operations.

Answers

The high side of the two analog outputs are the pins named: VDAC0_F & VDAC1_F. You may notice two other pins, named VDAC0_S & VDAC1_S. These two are generally not used, but can be used if the remote sensing feature is desired (to compensate for drop across longer lead lengths. Answers

The maximum working voltage for the USB-1608HS is the signal + the common mode voltage. So if for example you have no common mode voltage present your highest working voltage would +- 0.05% of full scale range or +-10.005. Add in a common mode voltage and things change. For example if you have an 8 volt signal and 4 volts of common mode your maximum working voltage is 12 volts. However, you must take into consideration the common mode range of the device which in this case is +-10 volts. Here you are in fact measuring the full working voltage of 12 volts but you have exceeded the common mode voltage range of 10 volts. Even in differential mode a signal cannot be measured beyond the common mode range of the device.
